SABANA HOME FAQ'S

Sabana started as a quest to produce the highest quality luxury linens available in the world. Once we established the cost of producing such linens, we shopped the most established, legacy bedding brands in the luxury market. It quickly became clear that their customers were paying for both the quality of their sheets and a massive premium for name recognition. That is when we spotted an opportunity to bring the quality of these legacy brands to our customer at honest prices. All of our bedding is ethically sourced and sustainably produced in Portugal with love to your home.

As a family business, we wanted to work with a manufacturer that shared our standards for ethics and quality. After a lengthy search, we came across a family-owned manufacturer in Guimaraes, Portugal that traces back hundreds of years. Combining the cotton we sourced with their generations-old manufacturing process, we have collaborated to create the most luxurious bed linens the world has to offer.

Thread count is the number of horizontal and vertical threads that are in one square inch of woven fabric. In most cases, it is not a good indicator of quality (which is a common fallacy), however it does provide a good gauge of the breathability of the fabric, as the more threads per square inch, the tighter the weave of the fabric.

The base of all cotton lies in its fibers, which is broken down into three different categories: short staple, long staple and extra long staple. Here at Sabana, we only use the cream of the crop and that is Egyptian extra long staple Giza Cotton. We never blend our fabrics with other cottons or synthetics to cut costs. Sabana’s promise is compromise on nothing and we stand by that promise with the fabric that we use, the labor of our craft and our final product-it is always 100% Egyptian Giza cotton. This cotton is more durable and softer than other cottons and it delivers a silky smooth breathable end product for your lasting enjoyment. Allowing us to give you a product that our competition will never come close to using long staple cotton.

Percale is a traditional one yarn over and one yard under weave. Sabana recommends it for hot sleepers, as it is breathable, crisp and cool to the touch. Sabana’s percale collections are: Marbella and Palma.

Sateen has an entirely different look and feel from percale. A sateen weave is one yarn under and four yarn over and offers a luxurious look, as the weave of the fabric creates a stunning sheen that makes color rich palates pop. The weight of this fabric is heavier, so it is good for year-round use. The feel of sateen is silk-like and unbelievably soft. Sabana’s sateen collections are: ValenciaDora and Paloma

This sateen is made up of a 400 thread count Egyptian cotton Giza it is our iconic fabric. It is a perfect compromise for hot and cold sleepers who love a sateen. It is buttery soft and has a stunning sheen. Sabana’s signature sateen collection is Paloma.

Our luxe sateen is a 500 thread count made from Giza 92. It is truly what dreams are made of. It comprises a heavier weight, so is great for year round use. This fabric is used for two exclusive collections- Valencia and Dora.

Our cooling percale makes flipping your pillow throughout the night a thing of the past. Percale is ultra breathable, crisp and cool to the touch. It truly gets softer every time you wash it!
